Don't forget to bloom was created with pencil, charcoal, acrylic and vintage cut out flowers on a Navigation Chart from Port Nolloth to Island Point.

The Cactus flower’s message is don’t let the world bring you down. Everything you need is inside you, and you too can produce beautiful things in the middle of an empty desert.

The lotus flower also has a fascinating will to live. A lotus seed can withstand years without water, able to germinate over two centuries later.

 Not only does it find sanctuary in the muck, but due to the waxy protection layer on its petals, its beauty is blithely unaffected when it re-blooms each morning. It continues to resurrect itself, reemerging just as beautifully as it was last seen. With such refusal to accept defeat, it's almost impossible not to associate this flower with unwavering faith.

We can choose to gather to our hearts the thorns of disappointment, failure, loneliness and dismay in our present situation. Or we can gather the flowers of grace, boundless love, abiding presence, and unmatched joy.
